A new Nepali calendar web app Nepcalendar has been released to solve the problem of slow loading and taking too much mobile data.

This new app has been claimed to be much faster to load compared to other calendar apps while being a lot more user friendly. The app is also said to be including only the necessary information related to the calendar, making it cleaner and easy to use.
For a country like Nepal with a geographical diversity and limited internet coverage, the app’s publishers believe the users get significant benefit by saving on mobile data by using this app.
“Based on our research and testing, compared to other similar websites, we have found Nepcalendar to be about six times faster. Also, it’s file size is about one eighth of the size, which saves a lot of mobile data. We primarily built this site for mobile users in Nepal,” says Prakash Timilsina, the developer of the app.
“The web app is available both in English and Nepali to make it easy for Nepalese as well as foreigners,” Timilsina added.
“According to 2022 Census, 73 percent of people living in Nepal use smartphones but only 38 percent of people are using the internet. That means there will be many more internet users in the near future. Any memory optimized app can help with this increasing internet demand.”
About Nepcalendar
Nepcalendar is a fast, lightweight online Nepali calendar designed to provide accurate and easy-to-read information about Nepali Tithis, national holidays, festivals, observances, and culturally significant events. Built with simplicity in mind, it loads quickly even on slow internet connections, making it ideal for users in remote areas of Nepal. According to testing, Nepcalendar is currently the fastest-loading Nepali calendar website.
The platform includes day-wise Tithi information, public holidays, major festivals like Dashain, Tihar, and Lhosar, and ethnic-specific celebrations. It is available in both Nepali and English languages, with a clean, user-friendly interface that enhances readability and navigation.
Nepcalendar offers two main viewing modes—yearly and monthly—allowing users to explore events, holidays, and observances in detail. Events are color-coded for clarity: red for public holidays or weekends, partial red for community-specific holidays, and black for regular days.
Nepcalendar is based on the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar, which is Nepal’s official calendar system and runs approximately 56 years and 8 months ahead of the Gregorian calendar. In Nepali, the calendar is also known as Patro. The current year in the Nepali calendar is 2082 BS.
With its dual-language support, event details, and optimized performance for mobile and low-bandwidth users, Nepcalendar is a practical tool for anyone seeking up-to-date Nepali calendar information. To explore events for any specific date, simply click on the date, or switch between English and Nepali using the top navigation bar.
