NIC Asia Laghubitta Rural Training: Financial Literacy, Goat Farming, Orange Cultivation Nepal
11th May 2025, Kathmandu
NIC Asia Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. has recently organized a large-scale training initiative across Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. The two-day program, held on Baisakh 26 and 27 (May 9–10, 2024), focused on enhancing financial knowledge and agricultural skills among rural communities.
NIC Asia Laghubitta Rural Training
The training covered basic financial literacy, goat farming, and orange cultivation. These sessions were aimed at increasing self-reliance, encouraging entrepreneurial thinking, and building long-term income opportunities for local participants.
Financial Literacy and Practical Farming at the Core
NIC Asia Laghubitta delivered practical education on how to manage finances and run small-scale farming. The sessions emphasized the importance of saving, investing, and understanding microfinance systems.
In parallel, the agriculture sessions introduced sustainable goat farming techniques and best practices in orange farming. These skills could directly improve household income, especially for rural families dependent on small-scale agriculture.
The institution believes that when people understand finance and farming together, their chances of success improve significantly.
Training Held in Seven Key Branches
The program was conducted across seven different branches, with strong participation in each area. Here’s the breakdown:
Paudur: 51 participants
Siranchaur: 38 participants
Amarapuri: 45 participants
Thakurdwara: 30 participants
Bagchaur: 38 participants
Chhaya Chhetra: 47 participants
Altogether, the sessions reached 249 members affiliated with NIC Asia Laghubitta. Most of them were women and small-scale farmers.
Local Leadership and Community Involvement
Each session included representatives from the local government, police authorities, and provincial monitoring officers. Their presence added legitimacy and reinforced community trust in the programs.
Additionally, branch heads and institutional staff played a vital role in guiding and coordinating the sessions. The high level of local involvement ensured smooth logistics and encouraged stronger participation from villagers.
Such collaboration between the institution and community leaders helped tailor the sessions to regional needs and expectations.
Focused on Women and Marginalized Farmers
NIC Asia Laghubitta targeted the training toward women, small farmers, and micro-entrepreneurs. These groups often face limited access to formal education and credit systems. By focusing on them, the institution hopes to narrow the financial literacy gap and support income diversification in rural Nepal.
Participants expressed enthusiasm during the sessions. Many stated they learned practical techniques they could immediately apply in their daily lives.
The institution believes that empowered women can uplift their households and inspire others in their community to become economically active.
Building Long-Term Self-Reliance
Through this program, NIC Asia Laghubitta hopes to make rural citizens more self-sufficient. The goal is to help participants build confidence, make informed decisions, and take initiative in both personal and financial matters.
For instance, the goat farming sessions taught how to manage small herds, maintain hygiene, and reduce animal mortality. Meanwhile, the orange cultivation segment offered insights into planting, pruning, and protecting crops from pests.
These are not just theoretical concepts; they are livelihood tools that can change lives.
Strengthening Financial Reach in Rural Nepal
Financial education is often limited in remote parts of Nepal. NIC Asia Laghubitta recognizes this gap and seeks to bridge it through consistent outreach and training.
The institution stated that training like this builds long-term habits around budgeting, saving, and small-scale investing. Over time, such habits lead to better family health, children’s education, and overall stability.
By combining agriculture and finance, the institution has crafted a powerful model for rural progress.
Commitment to Inclusive Development
NIC Asia Laghubitta has reiterated its commitment to rural inclusion and skill development. The success of this training program marks another step in their broader mission to enhance access to finance and livelihood tools in every corner of Nepal.
The organization plans to continue such programs in other provinces as well. Future initiatives may also include training on digital banking, home-based enterprises, and climate-resilient agriculture.
With these efforts, NIC Asia Laghubitta hopes to support Nepal’s journey toward economic independence, social inclusion, and rural prosperity.
