NMB Bank Funds 17.85 MW Upper Maiwa Khola Hydropower in Nepal

NMB Bank Ltd. and Kang Hydropower Company Ltd. have arranged financial management for loan investment in the 17.85 MW Upper Maiwa Khola Hydropower Project located in Maiwakhol and Meringden Rural Municipalities of Taplejung district. Mr. Dinesh Dulal, Chief of Sustainable Energy Banking from NMB Bank Ltd., and Mr. Ganesh Prasad Subba, Managing Director of Kang Hydropower Company Ltd., signed the loan agreement.

After the signing, Mr. Govind Ghimire, CEO of NMB Bank Ltd., and Mr. Ganesh Prasad Subba, Managing Director of the company, exchanged the loan agreement.
At the same event, Mr. Govind Ghimire urged the company to complete the project within the estimated cost and the set time frame. He also requested that the company give due attention to technical, environmental, and ecological aspects during construction and identify appropriate solutions to move forward.
Mr. Ganesh Prasad Subba expressed gratitude to NMB Bank Ltd. and committed to completing the Upper Maiwa Khola Hydropower Project within the scheduled cost and time, concluding the program.

Following the directive of the Nepal Rastra Bank’s Environmental and Social Risk Management, 2022, NMB Bank has prepared an Environmental and Social Policy and implemented an Environmental and Social Management System to manage the environmental and social risks of the projects accordingly.
