8th April 2026, Kathmandu
In a move set to strengthen the leadership of Nepal’s central bank, Kiran Pandit has officially taken the NRB Deputy Governor oath, formally beginning his five-year tenure.
NRB Deputy Governor Oath
The swearing-in ceremony follows the decision of the Council of Ministers on April 7, 2026 (Chaitra 24, 2082 BS) to appoint Pandit to the prestigious executive position.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Prof. Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel, at the bank’s central office. This appointment fills one of the two seats left vacant after the retirement of former Deputy Governors Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina and Bam Bahadur Mishra in March 2026.
The Swearing-In Ceremony: A Commitment to Stability
During the NRB Deputy Governor oath ceremony, Governor Poudel congratulated Pandit, emphasizing the critical role the Deputy Governor plays in maintaining monetary stability and overseeing the Nepalese financial sector.
Pandit, who most recently served as the Executive Director of the Foreign Exchange Management Department, is expected to bring his extensive technical expertise to the bank’s Board of Directors. His appointment comes at a pivotal time as Nepal navigates post-election economic reforms and a push toward a fully digital financial ecosystem.
