Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has started circulating new NPR 10 banknotes from today. The central bank made this announcement through its Currency Management Department.
NRB New NPR 10 Banknotes
Issuance Begins From Asar 2
The new notes are in use starting Asar 2 (June 16, 2025). According to the NRB, the banknotes are of the same size and color as earlier versions. The note features were also kept unchanged to maintain familiarity among the public.
Serial Numbers Range Widely
These new notes cover a wide serial range. Numbers start from D/32 000001 and go up to P/94 999999. This range indicates a large batch of notes being released for circulation across the country.
Official Guarantee Statement Included
Each banknote carries a guarantee statement. It confirms that the bearer will receive ten rupees on demand. The statement reads:
“Guaranteed by the Government of Nepal, this note entitles the holder to receive ten rupees from Nepal Rastra Bank immediately.”
Design Highlights On The Front
The front side of the note displays Mount Everest on the left. On the right side, there’s a watermark of Laliguras, Nepal’s national flower. The note also features the signature of former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.
At the bottom, the serial number is printed in Nepali, showing the year 2081 B.S. This is meant to help identify the year of issue clearly.
Visual Features On The Back
The reverse side of the note presents “Nepal Rastra Bank” in English at the top. In the middle, a blackbuck (Krishnasar) image stands out. At the bottom, “Rupees Ten” is written in English. It also includes the Gregorian year 2024 A.D.
Past Issuance Details Revisited
Earlier, the NRB had issued a 10-rupee note series in Mangsir 2077 B.S. (November 2020). That series covered serial numbers from Dh/82 000001 to D/45 999999.
However, NRB later informed that only numbers from Dh/82 000001 to D/31 800000 were actually circulated. This new release helps continue the previously incomplete distribution.
Consistent Size And Color Maintained
The NRB stated that no changes have been made in the note’s dimensions or color scheme. This decision ensures easier recognition and usability. Public handling of notes becomes smoother when basic features remain consistent.
Released For Public Use Nationwide
The Currency Management Department confirmed that the new banknotes are now in full circulation. The NRB aims to supply fresh notes regularly to meet the nation’s monetary needs.
These notes are now valid for everyday transactions. Citizens can expect to see them in the market from today onward.
