Nepal Rastra Bank has urged the public to exercise caution when conducting electronic transactions. In a notice issued today, the central bank emphasized the importance of being careful while using digital platforms like mobile banking apps and digital wallets for financial transactions.

Caution in Transaction Details

The bank warned that the fast pace and complexity of electronic transactions can make it difficult to reverse transfers once completed. Therefore, users must ensure that all transaction details, such as the recipient’s name, account number, and the amount being transferred, are accurate before proceeding.

Common Errors in Mobile Number Transfers

The notice highlighted frequent errors when transferring money using the recipient’s mobile number. It is important to double-check the recipient’s name and mobile number to avoid mistakes.

Security Measures to Follow

The central bank stressed the need for strong security practices, such as using robust passwords and safeguarding sensitive information like PIN codes, OTPs, and token numbers. Additionally, users are encouraged to set transaction limits to prevent significant financial losses.
