NTEAN Nepal Convention: Employee Rights, Technology Adoption, New Leadership

The Nepal Telecom National Employees’ Association (NTEAN) completed its 12th National Convention on Jestha 1–2, 2082, at the Central Training Center of Agricultural Development Bank, located in Bode, Bhaktapur.

The event was organized under the main slogan:

“An Institution Enriched with Modern Technology and Strong Labor Relations is Today’s Need.”

Grand Opening with Top Leaders

The opening ceremony on Jestha 1 was held grandly. Former Minister for Communications and Information Technology and CPN-UML General Secretary, Mr. Shankar Pokharel, served as the chief guest.

Several key personalities attended the event as special guests, including:

Mr. Rameshwar Phuyal, Politburo Member and Professional In-charge, CPN-UML

Mr. Punya Prasad Dhakal, President, Professional Federation Nepal

Ms. Sangita Pahadi Aryal, Managing Director, Nepal Telecom

Mr. Lok Bahadur Katuwal, Board Member, Nepal Telecom

These guests, along with representatives from active trade unions inside Nepal Telecom, delivered their best wishes. They praised the association’s ongoing efforts to protect workers and improve telecom services.

Nationwide Participation

Representatives and observers from all 77 districts took part in the event. Members from the central committee, various departments, provincial committees, unit committees, and contact committees attended the discussions.

They gathered to review past achievements and discuss the future direction of the association.

Review of Organizational Contributions

During the convention, speakers discussed the past work of NTEAN. They recognized how the organization supported employees, served customers, and cooperated with Nepal Telecom management.

Supporting company professionalism

Ensuring strong labor-management cooperation

Advocating for workers’ rights during reforms and restructuring

New Leadership Elected

A new 41-member Central Committee was elected through the convention. The committee brings together experienced professionals and youth leaders. The major elected members include:

Mr. Mani Kumar Pokharel – President

Mr. Anand Paudel – Senior Vice President

Vice Presidents – Mr. Raj Kishor Chaudhary, Mr. Prakash Sharma, Mr. Jagat Prasad Bhusal, Mr. Chhabilal Nyaupane, and Ms. Srijana Sapkota

Mr. Govinda Dhungana – General Secretary

Deputy General Secretaries – Mr. Bachan Dhungel and Mr. Deepak Chaulagain

Secretaries – Mr. Roshan Pandey, Mr. Kamal Khatri, and Ms. Sabitra Bhattarai

Treasurer – Mr. Meghraj Pokharel

Deputy Treasurer – Mr. Shalikram Acharya

Other committee members include representatives from diverse regions, genders, and backgrounds. Together, they form a strong and inclusive leadership team.
