You might be surprised hearing that US President Barack Obama had announced “Let Girls Learn” program for Nepal. It’s true. This program is going to be started soon in both countries Nepal and Laos. So all Nepalese girl be ready to grab this golden opportunity. So in this article, I am going to discuss all these.

On 6-September, 2016, Tuesday, US President has announced that he would conduct a program of “Let Girls Learn” for both Nepal and Laos when attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Laos. There is also an Obama’s speech issued by the White House, “I’m proud to announce that an initiative that’s very important to my wife Michelle, an initiative called Let Girls Learn and to me, is coming to Laos and Nepal.” Furthermore, the release has also added,” None of our countries anywhere in the world can truly succeed unless our girls and our women have every opportunity to succeed, the same opportunities as boys and men do.” US First Lady Michelle Obama also confirmed the announcement, tweeting: “Big news! Today, @POTUS a no unc ed new #LetGirlsLearn programs in Laos & Nepal.”

So the Let Girls Learn is a program going to address the range of adolescent girls to attend and complete their schooling and to realize their full potential and capacities. This program had also been run in two countries like Malawi and Tanzania. But he had decided to extend this program to Nepal and Laos to provide support to the girls. Hence it makes Nepal and Laos the first two Asian countries to get this support.

With this program, they had also decided to provide education, health, and safety services to girls; and raised the value of adolescent girls’ school. Besides, now their main focus is on women and girls, but they are also planning to engage men and boys as partners with equal voices in the future of their communities. Parameters of the program—including funding levels—have yet to be determined,” said Ineke Stoneham, Spokesperson, Press and Information Officer of the US Embassy, adding that through Let Girls Learn, US government agencies—including the Department of State, USAID, the Peace Corps, Department of Defence, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)—employ a “whole-of-girl” approach to ensure all girls have the opportunity to learn and thrive.

So, it’s time to be happy since our women and girls get such a valuable chance to learn and show up their talents. So be updated for the next information related to this.
