Following the recent launch of the A6 Pro, Oppo has officially unveiled another addition to its entry-level lineup in China: the Oppo A6i.

This new smartphone aims to stand out in the crowded budget market by focusing on three key pillars: exceptional durability, a large battery, and 5G connectivity.
As a leading web portal for tech enthusiasts, ICTFrame brings you a detailed breakdown of the latest device, its specifications, and its potential impact on the Nepali market.
Design and Build: A Focus on Durability
The Oppo A6i is built with what the company calls a “Diamond Shield Frame,” a unique construction that combines strengthened glass and high-strength aluminum alloy.
While the name might be a piece of clever marketing, it’s a welcome change to see a budget phone that prioritizes toughness, especially in an era where many affordable devices feel fragile.
Despite its rugged claims, the phone maintains a sleek profile at just 7.99mm thick and a reasonable weight of 194 grams.
For added protection, it comes with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, and it has also earned an SGS 5-star drop certification, providing an extra layer of peace of mind for users.
Display: High Refresh Rate but Budget Resolution
The Oppo A6i features a 6.56-inch LCD with a resolution of 1604 x 720 pixels. While the resolution is on the lower side, the inclusion of a 120Hz refresh rate is a notable feature that is fast becoming a standard even in the budget segment.
A higher refresh rate ensures a smoother scrolling experience and more fluid animations, which is a significant user experience upgrade. Additionally, Oppo claims the screen is touch-responsive even with wet, oily, or gloved fingers, a practical feature that could be a major selling point in various scenarios.
Performance: The Ubiquitous Dimensity 6300
At its core, the Oppo A6i is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. This particular processor has been making its rounds in a multitude of budget 5G phones lately.
While it handles daily tasks and light gaming with ease, its performance for more demanding applications is somewhat limited. The widespread use of this chipset reflects the current state of the budget 5G market, where manufacturers are more focused on providing a stable 5G experience than top-tier performance.
Cameras: A Standard Setup for Everyday Use
The camera setup on the Oppo A6i is fairly standard for its price point. It features a dual-camera system on the back, comprising a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor.
The 50MP main camera should be capable of producing decent photos in good lighting conditions, but don’t expect it to excel in low-light environments.
The 2MP depth sensor, as is common in this segment, serves more as a marketing checklist item than a genuinely useful tool. The 8MP front-facing camera is adequate for social media posts and video calls.
Oppo has also included several AI-powered features, such as portrait mode, dual-view video, and object removal, to enhance the photography experience.
Battery and Charging: The Phone’s Strongest Suit
The Oppo A6i’s most impressive feature is its colossal 6000mAh battery. The use of graphite cells and “electrolyte recovery” technology promises enhanced longevity and five years of use before significant degradation.
To complement this massive battery, the phone supports 45W SuperVOOC fast charging, which Oppo claims can charge the phone to 50% in just 37 minutes. This combination of a large battery and fast charging is a massive advantage for users who need their phone to last all day and then some.
Software and Features: A Smart and Secure Experience
The Oppo A6i runs on ColorOS 15, which is optimized for long-term performance stability.
The software suite includes a range of AI functions, such as handwriting recognition and educational tools, as well as family and safety features like fraud detection and regional alerts.
Oppo A6i Specifications
Price and Availability in Nepal
The Oppo A6i is officially priced in China, with configurations starting at 899 yuan and going up to 1099 yuan. Based on current market trends and conversion rates, ICTFrame’s analysis suggests that the expected starting price for the base model in Nepal could be around NPR 21,500.
This places it in a competitive position, but it remains to be seen how Oppo’s pricing strategy will stack up against rivals like Xiaomi and Realme.
