The Prime Minister made this powerful declaration during a special ceremony in Basantapur to welcome Nepal Sambat 1146.
Election Preparations on High Gear
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Karki reaffirmed the government’s primary mandate: to hold the House of Representatives election on Fagun 21, 2082 B.S. (approximately March 5, 2026).
“This civil government, established through a people’s movement, is entirely dedicated to ensuring the upcoming election is conducted in a fear-free and impartial environment,” she stated, emphasizing the urgency of the preparation efforts.
Addressing the Voice of Change (Gen Z Movement)
In a direct response to recent social shifts, PM Karki underscored the importance of listening to the voices demanding change.
She highlighted that efforts are underway to normalize the post-uprising political atmosphere through continuous dialogue with all political factions and, crucially, with the Gen Z community, recognized as the drivers of the recent movement.
“Let me be clear: Prioritizing elections does not give us the license to remain silent on the critical issues of good governance and anti-corruption,” PM Karki stressed.
She further acknowledged the government’s constitutional duty to heed the voices raised by the youth-led movement.
The Prime Minister committed that state mechanisms are now working to deliver “concrete results” in addressing these pressing concerns, aligning with the principles of the Constitution.
A Call for Collective Responsibility
Concluding her address, Prime Minister Karki issued a strong call for national unity. She maintained that the successful defense of democracy and the effective control of corruption require the active participation of every section of society.
She urged all political parties, classes, and communities to join hands to foster social harmony, unity, and the development of a conscious citizenry, expressing confidence in a shared national role for achieving stability and prosperity.
