Among the World’s top 500 companies listed by the Fortune Magazine in 2014, the swiftly growing popularity of Twitter was seen in the analysis of the use of social media sites by the CEOs of the top 50 companies.

According to the research, in 2012 only 2 percent of them used Twitter, but the number rose to 10 percent in 2014. LinkedIn was seen to be the most popular one.

The number of users changed swiftly from 6 percent to 22 percent in two years. The study shows that none of the CEOs today have an active Facebook page at today’s date even though it was 10 percent in 2012.

According to Leslie Gaines Ross of Weber Shandwick, in the tenure of two years, the concept of social media has changed among the higher officials. The CEOs who used to maintain their presence in almost all social media sites two years back have now chosen to adopt the most effective one today.

It is interesting that even though the top companies are far ahead in the field of technology and business, only 28 percent of CEOs make use of social sites today. The number was 18 percent in 2012.

Many companies prefer to use their websites and YouTube to deliver message-oriented and promotional videos. The number of CEOs using this method was 18 percent in 2010 and has now reached 40 percent. It is quite a remarkable increase.
