Prabhu Bank Leadership Appointments: Kishor Jung Karki Named Chairman, Aryal As Independent Director

Prabhu Bank Limited has appointed Kishor Jung Karki as its new Chairman. The bank’s Board of Directors unanimously selected him during its 380th board meeting held on Asar 19 (July 3, 2025). Karki had joined the board on Baisakh 17(April 30). He has long experience in Nepal’s civil service.
Prabhu Bank Leadership Appointments
Karki started his government career in 2039 B.S. He served for 38 years and retired in Baisakh 2077. Over the years, he has handled various high-level positions. These included roles as Joint Secretary, Director General, and Executive Head in several key agencies.
Experience In Government And Administration
Karki worked at major institutions during his service. He held roles in the Public Service Commission, the National Civil Service Library, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Information and Communications. He also served at the Inland Revenue Department, the Department of Customs, and the Department of Money Laundering Investigation.
At the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), he served as a Joint Secretary. He also worked as Chief Tax Administrator at the Inland Revenue Office, Kathmandu Area No. 2, Babarmahal. He was the Chief Customs Administrator at Tribhuvan International Airport and Deputy Director General at the Department of Customs.
Involvement In Policy And Institutional Reforms
Karki contributed to several national-level committees and boards. He worked with Nepal Telecom, the Melamchi Water Supply Project, and the Nepal Agricultural Research Council. He served on executive committees of the Agricultural Research Fund and the Accounting Standards Board. He also contributed to the Central Film Censorship Committee.
He was part of selection committees for general managers in key media organizations. These included Nepal Television, Radio Nepal, and Rastriya Samachar Samiti. He also chaired the Minimum Wage Recommendation Committee.
Karki played a key role in government task forces formed to investigate gold smuggling. He helped recommend reforms in law and policy to prevent smuggling activities. His work supported institutional improvement and effective enforcement mechanisms.
Ramesh Raj Aryal Appointed As Independent Director
Alongside Karki’s appointment, the board also named Ramesh Raj Aryal as an Independent Director. Aryal lives in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality, Ward No. 7. He brings almost 30 years of banking experience.
Aryal served as CEO of Kumari Bank from 2016 to 2022. Before that, he worked as Acting CEO from 2014 to 2015. He started his career at Standard Chartered Bank and rose to top positions. He also worked as Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Corporate Banking at Kumari Bank.
Academic And Professional Contributions
Aryal holds an MBA from Shanker Dev Campus. He has taught at Pashupati Multiple Campus. He also served as a lecturer in the education wing of the Nepal Army. In addition, he worked in an audit firm and as a corporate trainer in several institutions.
