The BHIM UPI service allows Indian pilgrims to make digital payments, offering a seamless and secure way to donate, offer prayers, and complete other transactions. Pilgrims can simply scan QR codes to make payments directly from their bank accounts. This initiative aims to provide a convenient, secure, and efficient payment solution for visitors.

Governor Adhikari emphasized the importance of the service, stating, “The launch of BHIM UPI promotes digital payments and enhances financial inclusion. This technology is secure, transparent, and user-friendly.” He also highlighted NRB’s role in promoting digital financial services under the “Digital Nepal” campaign.

The launch ceremony was attended by NRB Executive Director Gunakar Bhatta, Director Mukti Sapkota, Prabhu Bank Gandaki Province Chief Raju Rana Magar, local officials, temple representatives, religious leaders, and other dignitaries.

Prabhu Bank officials shared that the bank operates 312 branches and 67 extension counters across 77 districts in Nepal. The bank is also known for its exceptional remittance services, both domestically and internationally.

The introduction of BHIM UPI is expected to boost digital transactions, especially for Indian pilgrims, who make up a significant portion of visitors to the temple. It also strengthens the financial collaboration between Nepal and India, promoting cross-border digital payments.

This step is crucial for advancing the vision of a cashless economy and expanding digital financial services in Nepal. The BHIM UPI service offers a secure and user-friendly option for digital payments, aligning with the broader goal of financial inclusion in the country.

Prabhu Bank and NRB’s collaboration reflects their commitment to modernizing Nepal’s financial system and fostering a more inclusive and efficient digital ecosystem.
