Honorable President Ram Chandra Paudel presented Guinness World Records certificates to Surendra Rai and Susan Tamang during a ceremony at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas.

Surendra and Susan etched their names in the Guinness Book of World Records by performing a dance choreography at the highest altitude ever recorded.
The record-breaking feat took place at Kala Patthar in Solukhumbu, at an elevation of 5,441 meters (17,851 feet), on May 19, 2024 (Nepali Date: Jestha 6). Their two-and-a-half-minute dance to the song “Man Magan” successfully established a new world record. This achievement was aimed at promoting Nepal’s cultural heritage and tourism on the global stage.
In a statement, Surendra and Susan said, “We undertook this record-breaking challenge to raise awareness about the conservation of the Himalayan region, and its biodiversity, and to promote tourism in Nepal.”
The duo was supported by a team of artists, photographers, and videographers during the attempt. Notable contributions were made by Saugat Karki in photography and Sonam KC and Umesh Sapkota in videography.
The event was organized with permission from Sagarmatha National Park, the Nepal Tourism Board, and the Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality. The Guinness World Records attempt was overseen by Nepal’s official representative, Chitrakumar Karki.
This remarkable achievement has elevated Nepal’s global standing and contributed to the promotion of its tourism industry, showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
