Purbanchal University’s Strategic Workshop: Boosting Academic Quality & Student Outcomes

Purbanchal University recently concluded a pivotal one-day strategic workshop titled “Academic Result Reviews and Roadmaps,” aimed at enhancing academic quality and examination standards across the university.

Held at Wave Hospitality in Basundhara, Kathmandu, the event brought together key stakeholders to review examination outcomes, analyze student performance trends, and strategize for future improvements.
The workshop was chaired by Mr. Balendu Hamal, Controller of the Examination Management Office, and commenced with a welcoming address from Ms. Menuka Shrestha, Deputy Controller. The presence of Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Biju K. Thapalia, Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University, and Special Guest Prof. Dr. Kalyani Mishra Tripathi, Registrar, underscored the university’s commitment to evidence-based reform in academic assessments.
Key insights were shared during the technical session:
Er. Ajay Kumar Shah presented a detailed analysis of engineering program results, highlighting long-term trends and factors impacting student performance.
Mr. Ramji Rai addressed critical issues within the examination system, focusing on coordination, transparency, and procedural gaps.
Ms. Menuka Shrestha identified existing problems in examination operations and proposed actionable recommendations for improvement.
A comprehensive ten-year trend analysis was also shared, offering valuable insights into enrollment patterns, pass rates, and result fluctuations across various academic programs. These presentations laid the groundwork for in-depth discussions and strategic reflections among participants.
Facilitated by Mr. Binaya Bhattarai, Chief of the Examination Management Office, the workshop saw active engagement from Principals, Heads of Departments, and Coordinators from constituent and affiliated engineering colleges. Group discussions fostered institutional feedback and explored effective strategies to enhance pass rates and strengthen the overall examination framework.
The workshop concluded with a unified commitment to promoting quality and excellence through continuous improvement in examination practices. This initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening academic accountability and ultimately improving student outcomes at Purbanchal University.
