Nepali movie Purnabahadurko Sarangi has created history, achieving houseful shows across Nepal since its release on Kartik 15, targeting the Laxmi Puja festival. As of its 16th day, the film has emerged as one of the highest-grossing Nepali movies, collecting an impressive gross of 300 million rupees, as confirmed by producer Binod Poudel.

Setting records, Purnabahadurko Sarangi has also become the top single-day earner among Nepali films. In addition to its impressive earnings, it holds the title for the most shows secured by any movie country, with over 350 daily screenings.

This film’s impact isn’t limited to Nepal. It has also shattered records in the overseas market, achieving the highest gross in a week for a Nepali film and securing the most international screenings.

Producer Poudel remarked, “The love for our authentic rural stories from audiences worldwide is overwhelming. Through this film, we’ve proven that when viewers are informed about quality Nepali cinema, they support local over foreign films.”

Despite widespread demand, the film’s production team is touring various cities not merely to promote the film but to express gratitude to audiences for their unwavering support. Stars like Bijay Baral, Anjana Baraili, and other key actors are part of this appreciation tour.

However, a controversy has emerged. Following claims of fake gross collection reports, the film’s producers have announced that Purnabahadurko Sarangi will no longer screen in 19 theaters, including Arun Hall Biratnagar, Nilam Cinemas Janakpur, and more, starting this Saturday. The production house, Seven Seas Cinema, issued a statement alleging that despite houseful occupancy, theaters provided significantly lower collection figures.

Directed by Saroj Poudel, Purnabahadurko Sarangi stars Bijay Baral in the lead role, supported by Prakash Saput, Mukunda Bhusal, Buddhi Tamang, and Bhola Raj Sapkota. Mahesh Dawadi penned the dialogues. Presented by Seven Seas Cinema and Basuri Films, it is produced by Binod Poudel and Patrick Subedi, with executive producers Ramesh Chaulagain, Hari Shrestha, and Ramesh Dhakal.
