The official launch of Danuwar News will take place in the presence of the Government of Nepal’s spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung. Executive Director of Radio Nepal, Amardhwaj Lama, made this announcement via a press release.

Radio Nepal’s decision follows a request from the Danuwar Awakening Committee and a recommendation from the Language Commission. The news will be broadcast from the Bagmati Provincial Broadcasting Center. The Danuwar language is predominantly spoken in 62 districts of Nepal, including Kavrepalanchok, Sindhuli, Siraha, and Sarlahi.

According to the 2021 national census, the total population of the Danuwar community is 82,784, which constitutes 0.28% of Nepal’s total population. Approximately 50,000 people in Nepal speak the Danuwar language.

Radio Nepal aims to enhance inclusivity in language, content, and human resources with this initiative. Executive Director Lama mentioned, “Incorporating news in the Danuwar language is a significant milestone in Radio Nepal’s journey toward inclusive broadcasting.”
