CAN Federation actively engages in the RTI Implementation Role, led by General Secretary Mr. Chiranjibi Adhikari, Executive Member Rina Shrestha, and Accounts Committee Member Bikrant Karki, at Interaction Program hosted by the National Information Commission on April 7, 2024.

  1. Request for a feedback report on the interactions with federations to gauge their involvement and gather input.
  2. Promote successful stories of Right to Information (RTI) implementation and establish a centralized database for reference. CAN Federation is willing to provide technical assistance if needed.
  3. Advocate for the compulsory integration of an online complaint box in government public service offices to facilitate easier access to filing complaints and grievances.
  4. Establish a common platform for collaboration among the National Information Commission, federations, and other relevant stakeholders to streamline communication and coordination.
  5. Integrate RTI curriculum into university syllabi to educate students about their rights and responsibilities regarding access to information.
  6. Emphasize digital content creation to effectively disseminate information about RTI and enhance public awareness through various online platforms.
  7. Launch an awareness campaign targeting false information dissemination, aiming to prevent the spread of misinformation and educate the public about verifying information sources.
  8. These suggestions aim to strengthen the implementation of RTI, promote transparency and accountability, and empower citizens to exercise their constitutional right to access information.

Recommendations From the CAN Federation aim to strengthen RTI implementation in Nepal by prioritizing feedback collection, promoting success stories, and advocating for educational integration.

Through collaborative efforts, these initiatives seek to enhance transparency, empower citizens, and combat misinformation, reinforcing Nepal’s commitment to upholding the fundamental right to access information for all its citizens.
