This development marks a significant return to regular service for residents and visitors of Gulmi. This expansion follows a period of reduced operations. The reinstated schedule promises better connectivity and convenience for the region. Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is operating the service.
Suman Thapa, Station Chief of Nepal Airlines at Resunga Airport, confirmed the news. “Regular, four-times-a-week air travel has been successfully resumed starting today,” he stated. This increase in frequency directly addresses the travel needs of the local community. The full Resunga Airport flight schedule is now active, greatly improving accessibility.
Restoring Full Service
For the past five months, the district only saw one flight per week, operating only on Thursdays. This reduction was necessary. The single-flight schedule was due to a technical breakdown. Nepal Airlines’ Twin Otter aircraft, which services the route, required extensive maintenance.
The grounding of the main plane had severely limited flight frequency. This caused inconvenience for many passengers relying on air travel. However, Nepal Airlines successfully completed the necessary repairs.
Station Chief Thapa confirmed the aircraft is now fully operational. “Following the complete maintenance of the grounded Twin Otter aircraft, we are able to restart the four-times-a-week flight plan,” he explained. The airline has acted swiftly to restore the pre-existing flight frequency.
New Expanded Flight Days
Nepal Airlines has finalized its new, permanent flight schedule for Resunga Airport. The 19-seater Twin Otter aircraft will fly on four specific days each week. The new days for service are: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
This revised Resunga Airport flight schedule offers multiple travel options throughout the week. The increase from one to four flights provides flexibility for both business and personal travel. It also demonstrates the airline’s commitment to regional connectivity.
Flight Timings and Fares
All flights operate in the early morning. This scheduling is a technical necessity. Nepal Airlines cited high wind pressure in the afternoon hours at Resunga Airport as the reason. Flying in the morning ensures optimal safety conditions for the operation.
The flight timings are consistent for all four operating days:
- Kathmandu to Resunga (Gulmi): Morning departure at 6:30 AM
- Resunga (Gulmi) to Kathmandu: Morning departure at 7:30 AM
The fare structure remains competitive. The airline has set the ticket prices as follows:
- Kathmandu to Gulmi: NPR 7,500
- Gulmi to Kathmandu: NPR 7,300
These prices are aimed at making air travel an accessible option for the people of Gulmi.
Impact on Regional Development
The resumption of a regular, expanded flight schedule is a major boon for Gulmi. It significantly improves transportation efficiency. The region relies on this air service for quick travel to the capital.
The increase in flights is expected to stimulate economic activity. Better connectivity encourages trade, tourism, and facilitates quicker movement of goods and essential personnel.
Resunga Airport is becoming a vital hub. The regular operation, managed by the Nepal Airlines Twin Otter, secures a reliable air bridge.
It ensures that Gulmi remains connected to the national network. This investment in reliable air transport is crucial for the socio-economic progress of the district. The consistent service will help sustain the local development momentum.
