Sajha Yatayat Launches Special Dashain Bus Service between Kathmandu and Narayangadh with Flat NPR 300 Fare
24th September 2025, Kathmandu
Sajha Yatayat Cooperative Limited, a cornerstone of Nepal’s public transportation system, has announced the launch of a special bus service for the upcoming Dashain festival.
Sajha Yatayat’s Dashain Service
This dedicated route will connect Kathmandu and Narayangadh, providing travelers with a safe, reliable, and affordable option to reach their hometowns during Nepal’s busiest holiday season. The service will be operational from September 23 to October 9, 2025 (Ashwin 7 to Ashwin 21, 2082), a period when millions of people travel from urban centers to their ancestral homes, making public transport a critical need. This initiative aligns with Sajha Yatayat’s commitment to public welfare and its mission to provide exemplary transportation services.
Service Schedule and Route Details
The special bus service is meticulously planned to cater to the high travel demand during Dashain. The buses will depart from Pulchowk, with key stops along the way to accommodate passengers from different parts of the Kathmandu Valley. The planned stops include Lagankhel, Satdobato, Koteshwor, Gaushala, Ring Road, Gongabu Bus Park, and Kalanki. After its last stop in Kalanki, the bus will proceed on its journey toward Narayangadh.
The service has a consistent schedule to ensure punctuality and convenience for travelers. The first bus of the day will depart from Kalanki at 7:00 a.m., with subsequent buses leaving every one hour. The last bus of the day will depart at 12:00 p.m.. Upon reaching Narayangadh, the buses will immediately begin loading passengers for the return trip to Kathmandu, following the same designated route. This frequent and reliable service aims to alleviate the heavy rush and potential congestion that is common during the festive travel period.
Affordable and Structured Fare System
To ensure the service remains accessible to all, Sajha Yatayat has set a fixed, one-way fare of just NPR 300 per passenger. This flat rate is designed to be economical, providing an affordable alternative to other modes of transport during the holiday rush when fares often surge. A key aspect of the service is the strict enforcement of passenger guidelines to ensure comfort and safety.
Ticket Requirement: All passengers must purchase a valid ticket for NPR 300 before boarding and must carry it throughout the journey. To ensure compliance, random inspections will be conducted along the route.
Prohibition on Unauthorized Travel: Sajha Yatayat has a zero-tolerance policy for passengers traveling without a ticket. Anyone found to be in violation will face action under prevailing laws. Furthermore, any conductor or driver found allowing unticketed passengers will be immediately dismissed from service, a measure that highlights the cooperative’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Seating Policy: To guarantee a comfortable and safe journey for all, only passengers with a confirmed seat will be allowed to travel. Standing or sitting on makeshift seats or the floor is strictly prohibited.
These measures not only ensure the safety and comfort of passengers but also help in maintaining the integrity of the service and the cooperative itself, which is a collective national asset. Sajha Yatayat encourages the public to help preserve and support the service by adhering to these rules.
Enhancing Holiday Travel and Public Welfare
Dashain is a time for family reunions and is the most significant festival in Nepal. The mass exodus from cities like Kathmandu to various hometowns creates immense pressure on the transportation infrastructure. Sajha Yatayat’s special service is a timely and much-needed intervention to ease this travel demand. By offering a reliable, low-cost, and environmentally responsible option, the cooperative is directly contributing to the public welfare. Sajha Yatayat buses are known for their cleanliness and fixed fares, which provides a much-needed sense of security and reliability for travelers, especially during a time when informal transporters may attempt to exploit the high demand.
The company has provided multiple channels for inquiries and detailed information.
