Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was revealed on Sept 23rd in the Galaxy Unpacked event. At a much cheaper price, the Fan Edition offers the most common features of the Galaxy S20 flagship series.  With fast performance, powerful battery, solid cameras, and good price, the S20 FE will be a good Android phone to purchase in 2020.

Design & Display

With its flat front and matte metal surfaces, the S20 FE has a sleek design. Matte, as Samsung says is an amalgamation of plastic and glass. It sports a triple camera at the back and the camera unit is a bit bulkier. The S20 Fan Edition is almost exactly the same size as the S20+. That means it isn’t a small smartphone, but it’s on par with most of the flagship phones available in the market.

The fan edition phone has 6.5-inches Flat Infinity-O” Super AMOLED panel display. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution with a 20:9 ratio (~407 PPI density). Talking about the physical features it has 159.8 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm (6.29 x 2.93 x 0.33 in) dimension with 190 g (6.70 oz) weight.

Performance     

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is available in 4G and 5G connectivity. It runs on Exynos 990 for 4G and Snapdragon 865 chipset for 5G. In the context of Nepal, only the 4G connectivity option phone is available. So we will have the Exynos 990. The fan edition phone is supported by Mali-G77 MP11 (4G) or Adreno 650 (5G) graphics. It operates on Android 10 with One UI 2.5 on top

For storage, it is available in three storage variants, 6/128 GB, 8/128 GB, and 8/256 GB. In the context of Nepal, 8/128GB and 8/256 GB are available.

Camera

S 20 FE has the same picture quality as the S20 series in its main and wide-angle modes, and up to 3x zoom. The Space Zoom feature is missing which combines a high-resolution main camera and an optical zoom lens. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE sports a Triple-camera, 12MP Sony IMX555 primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, 3x optical zoom, 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.2 aperture. It can shoot videos of 4K at 30/60fps and 1080p at 30/60fps.

On the front side, it has a 32 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. It can shoot videos of 4K at 30/60fps and 1080p at 30/60fps.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Battery life is excellent. This Fan Edition phone has a big 4,500mAh battery that lasts around 13 hours on video playback at 75 percent brightness. The smartphone has 22W fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging, taking about one and a half hours to reach a full charge.

Connectivity

For connectivity, it has a USB Type-C port for charging and other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, USB On-The-Go, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC connectivity.

For security purposes, it includes an In-display optical fingerprint scanner.
