This collaboration, a testament to long-standing dedication, sees Sanima Bank continuing its support to Patan Hospital for another year. The initiative, which began in 2017 (2074 B.S.), underscores both institutions’ unwavering focus on empowering and uplifting women by ensuring access to essential healthcare.

Empowering Women Through the “Women’s Relief Fund

At the heart of Sanima Bank’s impactful social responsibility efforts is the “Women’s Relief Fund.” This unique fund is sustained by a monthly contribution of NPR 1 for every “Nari Bachat Khata” (Women’s Savings Account) opened. This innovative approach directly links the bank’s customer base with its philanthropic endeavors, demonstrating a powerful model of community-driven support. The accumulated funds are strategically deployed to assist underprivileged women in receiving vital medical treatment through various hospitals nationwide, including Patan Hospital.

A Shared Vision for a Healthier Nepal

The signing ceremony, held at the esteemed premises of Patan Hospital, marked a renewed pledge between the two prominent organizations. Dr. Ravi Shakya, Director of Patan Hospital, and Mr. Hemraj Sanjyal, Chief Deposit Officer of Sanima Bank, officiated the signing, symbolizing a shared vision for a healthier and more equitable Nepal.

Sanima Bank’s extensive network, comprising 134 branches and 127 ATMs spread across all seven provinces of Nepal, ensures that its outreach and impact resonate deeply within communities, making this partnership even more significant in providing accessible healthcare solutions.

This continued collaboration between Sanima Bank and Patan Hospital serves as an inspiring example of corporate social responsibility and community healthcare working hand-in-hand to make a tangible difference in the lives of Nepalese women.

About Patan Hospital

Patan Hospital is a major teaching hospital for the Patan Academy of Health Sciences. Patan Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Nepal. It uses modern equipment and facilities to provide treatment for almost 320,000 outpatients and 20,000 inpatients every year. Patan Hospital staff conduct more than 10,000 operations annually. The hospital has been operating with an annual revenue of around US$3.5 million.

The hospital already has an abundance of experienced doctors who will serve as faculty for the clinical sciences, as well as an excellent reputation for training health care professionals to serve throughout Nepal.

The mission of Patan Hospital is to provide quality, compassionate health care to everyone who comes to the hospital, regardless of their ability to pay. It serves people from every district of Nepal, from the remote villages as well as from the Kathmandu valley.

The United Mission to Nepal (UMN), an international Christian organization, founded Shanta Bhawan Hospital almost 50 years ago as a pioneering autonomous hospital to serve the underprivileged people of Nepal. In 1982, the hospital merged with Lalitpur Hospital to form Patan Hospital, still under the management of UMN. UMN recently decided to relinquish its role. This decision allowed Patan Hospital to become a self-sufficient institution managed by its Nepali staff, and to continue its dedication to quality, compassionate care for the disadvantaged. Now, by becoming the teaching hospital of PAHS, Patan Hospital will continue to grow and proceed into the future.
