Sanskriti Tree Plantation Kathmandu: UN Park Reforestation Drive

In celebration of World Environment Day, Sanskriti International School, in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute Nepal, proudly hosted a Tree Plantation Program on June 8, 2025, near the UN Park in Shankhamul.

The initiative brought together the entire school community, from eager young learners in primary school to driven secondary learners and supportive parents to staff members, all united by a shared commitment to a greener Kathmandu.
Ayush Dev Panta, Forest Maker, Jane Goodall Institute Nepal, and Co-Founder of the Revolution Project said, “This is not plantation but replantation. The native trees of Kathmandu are disappearing, and we hope to revive them through this effort of sponsoring a tree.”
Together, we planted 123 trees of nineteen different indigenous species of trees at the United Nations Park, Nepal, a powerful symbol of growth, hope, and collective responsibility. More than just a plantation drive, the event was a hands-on lesson in environmental stewardship and a celebration of our ability to create meaningful change when we come together.
Through this experience, our students not only dug into the earth but also planted values, learning about sustainability, respect for nature, and the importance of caring for our environment. These are the seeds of a better tomorrow, sown in young hearts today.
Parth, a grade 10 learner, stated that he hopes to see positive changes in the local environment after the initiation of this project. Adit, a ninth grader, said that he felt great contributing to the environment because we have to restore the forest.
At Sanskriti, we believe in action-driven learning that inspires. This initiative is not only a one-time activity but is our ongoing commitment to nurturing responsible global citizens, rooted in empathy, awareness, and the courage to care.
Let’s continue to plant, protect, and preserve for our future, and for generations to come.
