The second DFI (Development Finance Institution) Mission, hosted by Invest for Impact Nepal, commenced on April 23, 2024, bringing together key figures in the nation’s financial sector.

The opening ceremony, led by Mr. Madhu Kumar Marasini, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, saw participation from a diverse range of stakeholders. This included diplomatic missions, regulatory bodies, representatives from Class A, B, and D banks, the digital financial service industry, private sector associations, and private equity funds.

The opening day centered around technical sessions exploring the evolution of Nepal’s financial service industry and emphasizing the crucial role of DFIs. A comprehensive presentation by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) addressed growth prospects within Nepal’s financial sector. This was followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring distinguished participants:

The session was chaired by the esteemed Governor, Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari.

Furthermore, the program included dedicated deal facilitation sessions tailored for Class B Banks and Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). Notably, 12 MFIs and 8 National-Level Development Banks participated in these sessions.

The day culminated in a networking dinner, fostering valuable interactions between representatives from various financial institutions, funds, associations, delegates, and regulators. This collaborative spirit promises to lead to impactful initiatives within Nepal’s financial landscape.
