In a compassionate gesture aligned with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles, the bank handed over a substantial amount of warm clothing and jackets.
This immediate response, part of the Shangrila Bank CSR initiatives, aims to provide essential relief to hundreds of families facing displacement and the onset of cold weather.
The bank’s action demonstrates the financial sector’s active commitment to community support, even while expanding its digital services.
Executing the Relief Pledge
The warm clothing was officially handed over on Mangsir 15, 2082 (December 1, 2025), in separate ceremonies. The donation was presented to the mayors of the affected municipalities: Mayor Ran Bahadur Rai of Suryodaya Municipality and Mayor Kedar Thapa of Ilam Municipality.
Ms. Arpana Bajracharya, Head of the Marketing Department at Shangrila Development Bank, presented the items at both events.
The bank’s contribution breakdown was significant: Suryodaya Municipality: 350 new jackets funded by the bank, plus seven sacks of warm clothes collected from donors. Ilam Municipality: 175 new jackets funded by the bank, plus five sacks of warm clothes collected from donors.
The total donation included hundreds of new jackets, providing immediate relief to vulnerable flood victims.
Commitment Born from the Anniversary
This donation fulfills a pledge made by the bank during its recent anniversary celebrations to provide warm clothing to the flood and landslide victims in Ilam.
This act shows that the bank actively integrates its milestone celebrations with tangible social contributions. For a modern financial institution, such targeted CSR is crucial for maintaining public trust and community ties alongside business growth.
Expanding Services and Digital Governance
Shangrila Development Bank continues to grow, serving customers through a network that currently includes 109 branch offices and 30 ATMs.
This extensive physical network is increasingly complemented by its digital banking capabilities, ensuring widespread access to financial services even in remote areas.
The bank proudly emphasizes its commitment to best practices in institutional operations. It rigorously follows high standards of corporate governance, risk management, and a robust internal control system.
This strong foundation ensures the bank remains stable and capable of both continuous expansion and fulfilling its social duties.
The adherence to internal controls is fundamental to the bank’s ability to execute large-scale initiatives like this timely relief operation.
The Role of Technology in Timely Relief
While the donation was physical, the ability of Shangrila Development Bank to quickly mobilize funds, coordinate the purchase of hundreds of new jackets, and manage the logistics of distribution across multiple municipalities relies heavily on its internal ICT infrastructure.
Effective communication and precise logistical planning, supported by technology, ensured that the aid reached the mayors and, consequently, the victims without delay.
The bank reaffirmed its commitment to further expanding its services in the coming days, demonstrating that business growth and social responsibility are parallel objectives.
The effectiveness of the Shangrila Bank CSR campaign highlights the synergy between sound Digital Governance and real-world community impact.
