The Sirsia Dry Port Customs Office in Parsa has seen a significant adjustment in its revenue collection target for the fiscal year 2024/25.

Due to ongoing challenges in meeting revenue goals, the Customs Department has decided to reduce the target by NPR 5 billion. This decision reflects a need to set a more attainable goal given the office’s recent performance.

For the current fiscal year, the Sirsia Dry Port Customs Office now aims to collect NPR 60.49 billion. This revised target comes after a consistent shortfall in meeting revenue expectations over the past two years. In the previous fiscal year 2023/24, the office collected NPR 47.03 billion, achieving only 71.75 percent of the set target of NPR 65.94 billion. This represents a notable increase from the fiscal year 2022/23, when the office met just 62.88 percent of its target, collecting NPR 42.04 billion out of a goal of NPR 67.44 billion.

The decision to lower the revenue target for 2024/25 is a strategic response to the office’s historical performance, aiming to set a more realistic and achievable goal. The reduction reflects a broader trend of adapting financial targets to align with actual revenue collection capabilities and operational conditions at the Sirsia Dry Port.

In the past two years, the Sirsia Dry Port Customs Office has struggled to meet its revenue targets, prompting this necessary adjustment. Despite the target reduction, the office has shown some improvement in revenue collection, increasing the amount collected by more than NPR 5 billion from the previous fiscal year.

The Customs Department’s new target of NPR 60.49 billion is expected to offer a more manageable goal for the dry port customs office, allowing for focused efforts to enhance revenue collection processes and address any operational inefficiencies. This revised target is part of a broader strategy to stabilize revenue expectations and improve performance metrics across the customs offices in the region.

As the fiscal year progresses, stakeholders and officials will closely monitor the Sirsia Dry Port Customs Office’s performance to ensure that the revised target is met and to evaluate the effectiveness of the new revenue goals in improving overall fiscal outcomes.
