Nabil Bank Limited concluded the ‘Celebrating Fellowship, Journey of Impacts’ event, marking the completion of the second and third cohorts of its Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship (Nabil SSE) Fellowship Program.

The ceremony, held at Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur on Thursday, also welcomed the fourth cohort of participants. Nabil Bank has been running the fellowship program for three years in collaboration with Tribhuvan University’s Faculty of Management. The goal is to address social issues through entrepreneurship and create sustainable solutions.
Highlights of the Event
At the event, fellows from the second and third cohorts shared their achievements through innovative businesses. Mentors and participants discussed the impact the program has had on both personal and community levels.
Encouraging Entrepreneurial Growth
Tribhuvan University’s Dean, Professor Dr. Mahanand Chalise, emphasized the program’s role in bringing social change. He also noted that Nabil SSE has the potential for further development. He believes programs like Nabil SSE guide young entrepreneurs and help them grow professionally.
Professor Dr. Kesharjung Baral, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, stated that collaboration between entrepreneurs and academic institutions is vital for promoting social entrepreneurship. He highlighted that such initiatives will inspire youth to shift from seeking jobs to creating them.
Supporting Youth Entrepreneurship
Nabil Bank’s Director, Nirwan Chaudhary, discussed how the fellowship program encourages Nepali youth to become job creators. Despite facing challenges, the program motivates young entrepreneurs to push forward. He expressed optimism about expanding Nepali entrepreneurship to global markets.
Strengthening Educational and Industry Ties
Professor Dr. Khadga KC, Rector of Tribhuvan University, shared how China has successfully implemented similar programs since the 1980s. He suggested that Nepal could benefit from stronger cooperation between educational institutions and industries.
Program’s Success and Impact
Nabil Bank’s CEO, Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, welcomed the fourth cohort and reflected on the program’s success. Previous cohorts have created 45 businesses, providing jobs for over 1,200 individuals. He also highlighted the potential to apply the skills of Nepali migrant workers to foster domestic entrepreneurship.
Celebrating Fellow Achievements
During the event, fellows were awarded certificates, and the fourth cohort was introduced. Over 20 stalls displayed products from the fellows, demonstrating their entrepreneurial accomplishments.
Building the Future of Social Entrepreneurship
The Nabil SSE program has provided crucial training, mentorship, and networking for aspiring entrepreneurs. Participants expressed gratitude for the knowledge gained, which has significantly contributed to the expansion of their businesses.
Expanding Social Entrepreneurship
Since its inception, Nabil SSE has supported the creation of 117 businesses, providing jobs for over 1,200 people. The fellowship program, conducted in partnership with Tribhuvan University, continues to have a positive impact on the entrepreneurial landscape of Nepal.
