Student Arrested Charge of Hacking Nepal Army’s Server

One person has been arrested on the allegation of unauthorized access to the server of the Nepali Army. The arrested person is identified as 21-year-old Sagar Dhakal from Waling Municipality-10, Syangja.

He is a third-year undergraduate student studying at the Western Region Engineering College. According to the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nabinda Aryal, the student was found to have gained unauthorized access to the server of the Nepali Army using the internet connection of her home in Batulechaur.”

“On the basis of information that someone had gained unauthorized access to the cyberspace of the Nepali Army, we initiated an investigation,” said Aryal. “As a result, we have apprehended an individual involved in this activity from their home, with the help of technical analysis and human intelligence.”

According to the police, it is not yet clear what information Dhakal accessed on the Nepali Army’s server. It is also unclear what his motive was for hacking into the server. “We have launched an extensive investigation into this matter,” said SSP Aryal.

The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to hold Dhakal in custody for seven days for further investigation into the case against him.
