The British International College, a subsidiary of the British Education Group and sister concern of The British College, in collaboration with Keele University, UK, successfully launched its prestigious BSc (Hons) Data Science programme at a grand ceremony held at Hotel Marriott, Kathmandu.

The event brought together leading figures from education, technology, business, senior government officials, corporate leaders, academics, aspiring professionals, and diplomacy, marking a milestone in Nepal’s academic and technological development.
The evening commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the Panas by the Chairman of British Education Group, Mr Upendra Kandel, and the Executive Director of the British Education Group, Mr Mahendra Raj Kandel. The opening session featured AI and data themed dance performance. Followed by the heartfelt welcome speech from TBC’s official AI Robot, Rose, making her first appearance at the event.

Chief Guest Speech by H.E. Rob Fenn, British Ambassador to Nepal, on UK–Nepal educational partnerships
H.E. Rob Fenn, British Ambassador to Nepal, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, highlighted the role of UK–Nepal educational partnerships.
In his remarks, Ambassador Fenn emphasised the strategic importance of educational collaboration, stating, “If we can build a bridge between Nepal and global capital markets, British investors would be the first across that bridge.
This impressive programme particularly convinces us that education is the foundation—the basic infrastructure of the bridge—that will sustain this connection between Nepal and the UK.”
Building on this theme of collaboration, the Group CEO, Mr Rajen Kandel of the British Education Group, highlighted, “This programme is not only a new addition to the academic portfolio, but it also stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when nations and institutes collaborate with shared vision.”
Sajan Sharma, President of FinTech Alliance Nepal (FAN), then took the stage and highlighted the unique collaboration between FAN and TBC since its inception. He offered his thanks for the support received and shared his excitement about the future partnership.
This was followed by a panel discussion on “Leveraging Data Analytics for Impact in Nepal”, hosted by the Fintech Alliance Nepal, examining practical strategies for implementing data-driven solutions in Nepal.
The event concluded with networking, media interactions, and dinner.
