Successful Technological Workshop In Sindhupalchok District

Recently, the local government of the Sindhupalchowk district concluded their workshop. The workshop was on technological tools. It offered an opportunity to share learning about the adoption of social accountability tools. The detailed workshop is about learning about applications.

‘Tuki Sangh Sunkoshi’ at Barhabise organized this workshop. The workshop worked under the ‘Sustainable Use of Technology for Public Sector Accountability in Nepal’ (SUSSAN).

The speakers noted that the adoption of social accountability and technological tools has improved local governments. They found it efficient for delivering public services.

They also discussed its mechanisms in Barhabise municipality and Sunkoshi rural municipality. The benefits of technological tools and their application at people’s level were subject of interest.

Chair of NARMIN says, “The adoption of technological tools makes government works pro-public effective.” He explained how it helped in enhancing citizens’ engagement in decision-making. Saroj Bista of Young Innovations, a technical partner of SUSSAN, shared learning of the use and benefits of technological tools. He also explained mechanisms in light of citizen engagement and accountability.

The Deputy mayor Sushila Pakhrin of Barhabise municipality said that technological tools have made it easier for them to deliver their performances. The public information has been digitized as well as disclosed for public consumption. This has promoted the informed participation of citizens in public affairs.

The office-bearers of different rural municipalities took part in the learning sessions. It included Lisankhupakhar,  Bhotekoshi, Tripurasundari, Chautara Sangachok Gadhi, and Balefi. The SUSSAN project is being implemented in Sindhupalchowk, Lalitpur, Achham, Bajhang, Dadeldhura, and Kailali districts of Nepal. They are funded by Global Affairs Canada and the technical assistance of CECI.
