This innovative project is specifically designed to significantly enhance access to finance for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs), and underserved communities within Nepal’s Madhesh Province.
This strategic partnership aligns directly with the Swiss cooperation program’s core priorities, focusing on inclusive economic development. A key feature of the project is the introduction of collateral-free digital lending, a crucial step towards democratizing access to capital.
The initiative places a strong emphasis on empowering women entrepreneurs and supporting migrant households, recognizing their vital role in local economies.
Beyond providing financial access, beneficiaries of this program will also gain access to comprehensive digital financial literacy training. This crucial component aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital economy effectively, ensuring more equitable participation and sustainable financial growth.
The collaboration between the Embassy of Switzerland and eSewa Ltd. is envisioned to create a catalytic change within Madhesh Province’s economic landscape.
By fostering increased income generation and promoting long-term wealth creation, the project aims to complement existing local market dynamics and contribute to a more robust and inclusive financial ecosystem.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in leveraging digital innovation for sustainable development and poverty reduction in Nepal.
