IoT Expo Starts in the Capital What is the Special Attraction?

The ‘Nepal IoT Challenge‘ organized by Softwarica College has started today. The IoT Challenge is organized by Softwarica in collaboration with Coventry University, targeting students who have appeared for the Class 12 examination.

The exhibition features student-made drones, smart homes, electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, traffic management systems, smart agriculture, smart parking, flood detection, smart security, and fire control robots.

Pramod Poudel, head of the college, said that the exhibition was held at the premises of Softwarica College in Dilli Bazaar.

The students have participated in the competition in five members to showcase their talents. The registered groups were given IoT training in a 10-day free boot camp conducted by the college.

After the training, an exhibition of IoT projects made by the student group is organized. Poudel said that cash prizes would be given to the three best projects based on the votes of the observers.

The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000. Similarly, the second and third place winners will receive Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000.

Softwarica College Hosts Second IoT in Nepal

Softwarica College of IT and e-commerce is hosting an IoT exhibition in Kathmandu on how to make your everyday life smart by computing solutions.

Samples of 30 projects including autonomous vehicles, smart wheelchairs, smart delivery scooters, smart gardens, search and rescue drones, smart waste management, robotic arms were prepared for the exhibition.

The exhibition was organized with the aim of creating a skilled workforce and bringing the idea of a computing solution to the general public by focusing on experimental studies, said Bigyan Shrestha, President of the College.

Shrestha said that the free admission exhibition would be useful for state policymakers, the private sector, students, parents, and those interested in the IT sector.

The exhibition will show how our living standards can be made easier by making good use of technology.

Softwarica College, which teaches IT courses at Coventry University in the United Kingdom, has also set up an innovation center for BIT students. The current exhibition was prepared by students at the same innovation hub.

Chairman Shrestha said that the college would award a grant of up to Rs. 500,000 to the best projects with commercial potential so that the research would not be affected due to lack of funds.

The Director of the college Amrit Thapa said that the smart vehicle was constructed at the college level for the first time in Nepal.

He said that the Smart Solutions modules to be shown at the exhibition were prepared by students studying at the Softwarica College undergraduate level of computing and cybersecurity.

The college said the innovation hub was designed to allow students to concentrate on research along with their college studies.

The College has informed that all the preparations for the show, which is expected to be attended by 5,000 people, have been completed.

The exhibition will take place at the college premises of Dilli Bazaar for four days from Falgun 28.
