The donation went to Shiva Thapa, a 30-year-old spinal injury patient from Simthali Thapatole, Bhumlu Rural Municipality-2, Kavre. This act of service highlights the powerful role active citizens play in strengthening community welfare.
The handover ceremony took place at the Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (SIRC) located in Bhainsepati, Sanga. Philanthropist Rajesh Kumar Agrawal provided the financial support for this particular wheelchair.
The Story of Shiva Thapa
Shiva Thapa’s life changed drastically six years ago. At the age of 24, he suffered a severe fall from a rooftop. This accident resulted in a paralyzing spinal injury. He currently faces extreme difficulty with daily activities.
Receiving the wheelchair provides a much-needed boost to his independence and morale. Mr. Thapa expressed gratitude, noting that supportive hands like these play a vital role in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities within the community. This support gives patients hope for a more active life.
A History of Unwavering Social Service
Tara Bahadur Kunwar, who serves as the President of the philanthropic organization ‘Hajur Lai Namaste,’ coordinated the entire effort. He was joined by fellow social workers including GN Sapkota, Suraj Makai, and Raju Khatri at the handover event.
Mr. Kunwar stated that his organization has distributed over 200 wheelchairs to date. This consistent commitment demonstrates a deep-seated dedication to social upliftment. His work focuses on providing practical assistance to those who are most vulnerable.
Leadership Rooted in Empathy
Beyond his role as a successful businessman, Tara Bahadur Kunwar is an active political and social campaigner. He is the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party in Kavre Constituency No. 2. Acknowledging his own rise from a working-class background, Mr. Kunwar has always prioritized the service of laborers and underprivileged families.
His charitable work extends far beyond providing mobility aids. During the devastating mega-earthquake and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, he continually distributed essential food items and relief materials. This unwavering support addressed the extreme difficulties faced by laborers and impoverished families during those crises.
ICTFrame’s View: The Impact of Individual Action

In a nation where access to specialized rehabilitation and mobility aids can be challenging, leaders who actively coordinate and fund these initiatives are invaluable.
They mobilize resources and draw attention to the needs of the disabled community. Mr. Kunwar’s consistent work serves as a powerful model for corporate social responsibility and political leadership. He turns promises of service into real, on-the-ground support.
His persistent efforts ensure that the most vulnerable members of society receive the crucial assistance they require.
