Thousands of Chinese social network users have joined the ClubHouse US mobile app within a week.
Chinese speakers from around the world shared their experiences and discussions on the problems of Taiwan and the government repression of the Muslim minority Uyghur in Xinjiang province.
Thousands of Chinese social media users join the Club House app every week to discuss and debate China’s controversial issues in Taiwan and Xinjiang.
The government has said in a statement that China, which has a “strict monitoring” of criticism, has prohibited open debate on such issues. This app has recently been released in China without a VPN (Virtual Private Network).
Users will be able to have informative conversations, discussions, and debates in this audio-based app. The ClubHouse app, released in March 2020, is currently only available on the iPhone and allows a non-Chinese (not in China) Apple account to be used.
The app is only for the educated class, and if it is easily accessible to the Chinese public. China will probably ban it, said Fang Kecheng, a professor in Hong Kong.
