TIA Flight Status Update Today: Six Major Airports Shut Down by Rain Travel Alerts for October 4 in Nepal

4th October 2025, Kathmandu

Travel plans for thousands of passengers were thrown into disarray on Saturday, October 4, 2025, as incessant rainfall since Friday night severely impacted domestic air travel across Nepal.  A Wet Saturday: Continuous Rain Grounds Flights Across Nepal.

TIA Flight Status Update Today

The adverse weather conditions forced the suspension and delay of numerous flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and several other key domestic hubs.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology confirmed that continuous, heavy rainfall is occurring across the Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country, leading to poor visibility and unsafe flying conditions.

Tribhuvan Airport: Hub of Disruption

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, the country’s main gateway, reported significant disruption to its domestic schedule. TIA officials confirmed that due to the persistent downpour and resulting low visibility, numerous domestic departures and arrivals had to be either delayed or cancelled outright. While international flights generally remained operational, the domestic terminal experienced a standstill for the major part of the morning.

Six Airports Suffer Suspensions

The impact of the heavy monsoon-like weather extended far beyond the capital. According to the TIA office, flight operations were entirely suspended at a minimum of six major domestic airports, causing a nationwide ripple effect on air travel. The affected airports include:

Kathmandu (TIA Domestic)

Bharatpur

Janakpur

Bhadrapur

Pokhara

Tumlingtar

Passengers scheduled to fly to or from these destinations on October 4, 2025, are advised to contact their respective airlines for the most current flight delay or cancellation status.

Advice for Travelers in Nepal Today

Given the severe weather and the widespread Nepal domestic flights disrupted status, air travelers are urged to take the following precautions:

Check TIA Flight Status: Contact your airline (such as Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines, or Shree Airlines) immediately for the current status of your October 4, 2025, booking.

Prepare for Delays: Even if a flight is not outright cancelled, significant travel delays in Nepal are highly probable as the weather is reviewed for clearance.

Monitor Weather Updates: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned that heavy rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day. Travelers should be prepared for potential further disruptions over the weekend.

The continuous rain highlights the vulnerability of Nepal’s domestic air network to adverse weather, especially during the extended monsoon period. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and flight operations will resume only once weather conditions improve and visibility is deemed safe for air traffic.
