NATTA Launches Tour Product Development Training in Koshi Province to Boost Sustainable Tourism
4th April 2026, Kathmandu
The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has officially inaugurated a specialized Tour Product Development Training Program in Biratnagar, marking a significant step toward elevating the tourism standards of Koshi Province.
Tour Product Development Training in Koshi Province
This initiative is a collaborative effort under the Sustainable Tourism Project (STP), a strategic joint venture between the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and UNDP Nepal.
Running through April 6, 2026, the program is hosted at the Biratnagar Airport Hotel, gathering travel professionals eager to redefine the Nepalese travel experience.
Empowering Tourism Professionals for a New Era
The primary objective of the training is to bridge the gap between traditional travel offerings and modern market demands. By equipping industry professionals with practical skills in product design and innovation, the program ensures that Nepal remains competitive in the global tourism landscape.
Participants are diving deep into the mechanics of creating “market-oriented” itineraries. The curriculum focuses on:
Innovative Itinerary Design: Moving beyond standard routes to offer unique, immersive experiences.
Competitive Positioning: Understanding global travel trends to attract diverse international demographics.
Sustainability: Integrating eco-friendly practices that align with the goals of the UNDP and NTB.
Spotlighting the Gems of Koshi Province
A major highlight of the program is its focus on Koshi Province. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty from the plains of the Terai to the towering peaks of the Himalayas, the region holds untapped potential for cultural and adventure tourism.
Under the guidance of Mr. Punya Prasad Bhattarai, President of NATTA Koshi Province, the training encourages participants to highlight the province’s:
Cultural Heritage: Showcasing the unique traditions and history of local communities.
Adventure Opportunities: Developing trekking and outdoor activities that capitalize on the rugged terrain.
Natural Landscapes: Promoting biodiversity and scenic vistas as core components of the travel product.
Expert-Led Innovation and Coordination
The sessions are facilitated by Mr. Vinaya Shakya, a seasoned industry veteran known for his interactive and real-world approach to tourism training. His expertise ensures that the knowledge shared isn’t just theoretical but immediately applicable to the daily operations of travel agencies and tour operators.
The seamless execution of the event is being managed by NATTA Executive Member Mrs. Shradha Joshi, whose coordination has been vital in bringing together stakeholders from various sectors of the industry.
A Vision for the Future
As the program progresses toward its conclusion on April 6, the expectation is a more robust, creative, and resilient tourism workforce in Koshi Province.
By fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable product development, NATTA and its partners are ensuring that the Nepalese tourism sector continues to thrive while preserving the very assets that make the country a world-class destination.
This training serves as a blueprint for regional tourism development, proving that when local leadership and international expertise collide, the result is a richer, more authentic experience for every visitor to Nepal.
