3rd October 2025, Kathmandu
The District Administration Offices of Chitwan, Dhading, and Tanahun have issued a joint public notice urging people to avoid non-essential travel on the Muglin–Narayangadh, Kotre–Muglin, and Nagdhunga sections of the Prithvi Highway from October 3 to 6 (Ashwin 17–20).
Travel Advisory Muglin-Narayangarh
The advisory comes after continuous rainfall and frequent landslides caused repeated blockages along these critical roadways.
According to officials, a joint meeting was held today at Chumlingtar, Ichchhakamana-3, Chitwan, led by Chitwan’s Chief District Officer (CDO) Ganesh Aryal, Dhading’s CDO Vijay Raj Subedi, and Tanahun’s CDO Ram Krishna Adhikari, along with chiefs of security agencies from all three districts.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted heavy rainfall during this period, raising the risk of landslides, floods, and road blockages. In light of this, local authorities have strongly discouraged nighttime travel on these road sections and advised travelers to plan their journeys during daytime hours only.
“We urge the public to travel only during the daytime and to obtain necessary travel updates from security personnel before starting their journey,” said CDO Ganesh Aryal.
Heavy Vehicles Restricted
During this period, heavy goods vehicles carrying non-essential cargo are requested not to operate on these routes. This measure aims to minimize congestion and ensure safety in case of landslides or road closures.
If rainfall intensifies or hazardous conditions arise, local administrations may temporarily close highway sections. Therefore, the public has been asked to remain vigilant and extend full cooperation to authorities.
Contact Information for Travelers
For real-time updates, complaints, or road condition reports, travelers can reach out to:
Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) or Information Officers of the respective districts.
District Traffic Police Offices or the Traffic Inspectors in Chitwan, Dhading, and Tanahun.
Authorities have assured that continuous coordination between local administrations and security agencies will be maintained to manage traffic and ensure public safety during the forecasted heavy rainfall period.
