VinFast India EV launch
On September 6, 2025, the company unveiled two of its highly anticipated electric SUVs, the VinFast VF 6 and the VinFast VF 7, marking a significant step in the company’s global expansion strategy.
Following their initial showcase at the India Mobility Global Expo 2025, the launch of these two models sets a new benchmark for style, technology, and performance in the competitive Indian EV landscape.
VinFast’s entry is a clear signal of its commitment to the Indian market, which is rapidly adopting electric mobility.
The company has already initiated its retail network by signing agreements with 13 dealer groups to establish 32 dealerships across 27 cities, with plans to expand this to 35 dealerships by the end of 2025.
This robust network, combined with local assembly at its new facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, demonstrates VinFast’s long-term vision for the country.
The first of the two models, the VinFast VF 6, is positioned in the compact electric SUV segment. Its design is a blend of modern aesthetics and practicality, featuring a closed grille, distinctive V-shaped LED DRLs, all-LED projector headlamps, and sporty 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The interior is equally impressive, offering a premium and tech-forward experience. Drivers will appreciate the 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and the intuitive button-operated gear selector.
The centerpiece of the cabin is the large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which comes integrated with Google apps and voice assistant, ensuring seamless connectivity. Comfort is paramount with features like a fixed panoramic glass roof, ventilated seats, and dual-zone climate control.
Safety in the VF 6 is not compromised. It is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including a 360-degree camera, seven airbags, electronic stability control, parking sensors, and a Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
Under the hood, the VF 6 is powered by a 59.6 kWh battery pack. The Eco variant delivers a power output of 177 PS with a claimed range of 468 km, while the Plus variant offers 204 PS with a range of 463 km.
Fast charging capability allows the battery to be topped up from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, addressing range anxiety for prospective buyers. The VF 6’s price in India starts at an introductory ₹16.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
Moving up the segment, the VinFast VF 7 presents a more aggressive and powerful option. Its design is characterized by a sleek, closed grille, signature V-shaped LED DRLs, and a larger profile.
The cabin of the VF 7 is designed for ultimate comfort and space, featuring a flat floor for rear passengers, reclining seats, and a wide panoramic glass roof. The vehicle also includes a host of safety and convenience features like a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, seven airbags, and Level-2 ADAS.
The VF 7 offers more flexibility with two battery options. The 59.6 kWh variant is available with front-wheel drive, while the more potent 70.8 kWh model comes in both FWD and AWD configurations.
The top-tier variant generates an impressive 350 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque, providing exhilarating performance. With a driving range of 510–532 km, it offers substantial mileage on a single charge.
VinFast is also providing an industry-leading ownership package, which includes a 10-year or 200,000 km battery warranty, free charging until July 2028, and free maintenance for the first three years.
Priced at ₹20.89 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market, the VF 7 is set to be a strong contender against models like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Mahindra BE 6.
With a strategic focus on local assembly and a commitment to providing a complete ecosystem of products and services, VinFast’s entry with the VF 6 and VF 7 is poised to make a significant impact.
The combination of competitive pricing, advanced features, and a strong after-sales support system makes these new electric SUVs a compelling choice for Indian consumers looking to transition to sustainable mobility.
