Now many of you may be hearing a strange Caller Ring Back Tone (CRBT) at the beginning when calling from Nepal Telecom or Ncell network.

Earlier, when calling internally, only ‘toottottot’ CRBT would be heard directly. Now it plays a different tone before it rings.

Shobhan Adhikari, the spokesperson of Nepal Telecom, informed that it is now time to indicate the time of the phone call (call setup time) when a different tone is played.

“You are calling someone, and the period of the phone call (call setup time) is playing a different tone. After the call is set up or made, the previous router tone is played,” the official said.

He said that earlier the call setup time and the tone after the call was the same, there was no difference in feeling, but now when it is different, many people remember it.

For the past few months, the regulator Nepal Telecommunication Authority has been testing the quality of service of telecommunication companies from time to time. In which the call setup time is also kept by the authority as an indicator of the study. The authority has set a threshold for operators that the call setup time should be 5 seconds or less.

Because of this, Nepal Telecom or Ncell users can easily calculate how long a call will take due to different tones.
