The museum features a variety of technological equipment used by WorldLink throughout its journey—from its early days to the present—such as devices from the eras of email, dial-up, VSAT, wireless, cable internet, and FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home). While these tools and technologies are now obsolete, they hold great significance as memories of Nepal’s internet history.
WorldLink considers it a responsibility and a social duty to preserve and archive such history-rich technologies in one place. The WorldLink Museum has been developed as a space for study, observation, and research. The company believes that this museum will become a common platform for exploring and understanding the evolution of internet technology in Nepal.
With this initiative, WorldLink is confident that students of Information Technology, researchers, historians, writers, journalists, and other interested individuals will benefit by being able to observe, learn from, and understand the technologies of the past. The museum will provide a solid foundation for students, researchers, and the tech community to comprehend the progressive development of internet technology and the critical role played by WorldLink in Nepal’s digital journey.
WorldLink has successfully expanded internet access from Nepal’s remote villages to its bustling cities, helping bridge the digital divide. This museum is a reflection of that journey, immortalizing the company’s contribution to the development and expansion of technology in Nepal.
The museum displays equipment once used for dial-up internet, such as early computer modems, disks used in wireless setups, and old FTTH devices that were in use during earlier stages of service development. According to Kiran Raj Gautam, the museum will be open for college students to visit every Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM.
The museum was inaugurated at WorldLink’s own office premises in Kusunti, Lalitpur, under the chief guestship of company Chairman Mr. Dileep Agrawal, with special presence of Co-founder and Executive Director Mr. Manoj Agrawal and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Keshav Nepal.
