On the occasion of the International Day of Zero Waste, the Zero Waste Exhibition 2026 is set to take place in Kathmandu.
Zero Waste Exhibition 2026
The exhibition is jointly organized by Rotary International District 3292 (Nepal–Bhutan) along with its 35 Rotary Clubs, Rotaract District/Interact District 3292, and the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG).
The event will be held on March 30–31, 2026 (Chaitra 16–17, 2082) at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Naxal.
The Zero Waste Exhibition 2026 is supported by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction/Ministry of Urban Development, United Nations Global Compact Nepal, and Environmental Camps for Conservation Awareness (ECCA).
The program is organized in partnership with HECAF 360 and Blue Waste to Value.
Organized under the message “Be the Change Reduce Waste, Reuse More, and Embrace Recycling,” the exhibition aims to promote sustainable lifestyles and encourage active citizen participation in building a cleaner environment.
The exhibition, focused on promoting recycling and upcycling enterprises, will open daily from 11:00 AM, and entry will be free for all visitors, according to the organizers.
The event will showcase innovative practices, technologies, and enterprises related to waste management, reuse, recycling, and upcycling. It is expected to promote sustainable resource utilization, reduce waste generation, and advance practical implementation of circular economy principles.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Rotarian Binod Koirala, District Governor of Rotary International District 3292 Nepal–Bhutan.
A special panel discussion will be held on the second day as a key attraction of the exhibition. Titled “Beyond the Bin: Redesigning Systems for a Zero Waste Future,” the discussion will bring together policymakers, private sector representatives, entrepreneurs, and environmental experts.
Panelists will include:
Navaraj Pyakurel, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development
Nabin Bikash Maharjan, Co-founder and CEO, Blue Waste to Value
Samir Thapa, Chairperson, UN Global Compact Nepal
Bishnu Thakali, President, WFPCO
Arun Shrestha, Chairperson, Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm
The session will be chaired by Rtn. Bibhuti Man Singh, and moderated by Rtn. Dr. Dinesh Raj Manandhar. A special address will also be delivered by Miss Nepal 2023 and environmental activist Srichchha Pradhan.
The organizers believe that multi-stakeholder dialogue and exhibitions of this nature are crucial to addressing ongoing environmental challenges such as uncontrolled waste generation, landfill dependency, plastic pollution, and inefficient resource use. The program aims to promote collective action to tackle the growing urban waste crisis.
Organizers have invited stakeholders, youth, students, entrepreneurs, and the public to participate actively in the event.
With the message “Rethink Consumption, Reduce Waste, and Protect the Environment,” the campaign encourages collective responsibility toward sustainability.
“We can collectively transform waste into valuable resources and build a cleaner future,” said Rotarian Yogesh Shakya, Environment Committee Chair of Rotary International District 3292 Nepal–Bhutan. The exhibition aims to connect green enterprises with markets, encourage innovation, and inspire youth toward sustainable living.
