Why 5G is not a smart choice right now, or should we wait before buying 5G smartphones? – These are the most asked questions recently.

Nowadays, smartphones have various features along with an operating system. 5G is one of the key features of smartphones these days. Many customers want to buy the phone, including 5G.

Smartphones have given a new shape to this generation of technology. It’s a portable device. It is a combination of mobile telephone and computing functions into one.

5G guarantees fast internet service. 5G tech will be beneficial in the future. There’s no doubt in that. However, there is still no confirmation about when the latest network connectivity. There’s a question if 5G will be available in the country or not.

Still, the market is full of smartphones that support 5G.  Some companies are highly marketing the 5G technology.

People are even more confused about whether to spend extra and buy 5G. The decision is not simple for customers. Only two telecom operators are close to 5G roll out in the country Reliance Jio and Airtel.

But is it a reliable technology now? Here are 9 reasons that will change your mind.

Some reasons

1. There are no immediate plans for the 5G network rollout in India.

India still hasn’t established a 5G network. Buying 5G smartphones is meaningless. Telecom operators haven’t verified the 5G networks’ availability. There’s no official report about that. Pandemics have delayed the process. 5G trials are just starting in some cities of India. Even if the network is available, only a few cities can access 5G by the end of this year. It’s going to take more time to expand within the whole country. 4G networks might still share at least 50% of the traffic of mobile internet in India till 2026.

2. By the time 5G networks are available, you would most likely have changed your smartphone.

Every 15 months, users tend to change their smartphones. They keep on changing their phone every 2-3 years. Major cities in India may get a 5G connection by 2024. During a pandemic, it’s safer to stick to 4G gadgets. It’s affordable, and people can use it now. At the same time, 5G may take some more time to gain support.

3. The prices of 5G-enabled smartphones will fall going forward

When 5G networks are enabled, the devices will be more affordable. So, it’s better to spend extra on the current network. If the 5G network is available, the gadget’s price will automatically fall in the future. Hence, buying it now will only be a waste of money.

4. Initially, 5G mobile internet plans will be expensive

4G data plans are much cheaper than 5G data plans. If you plan to buy now, the 5G data plan is going to cost more. Therefore, even if you buy an affordable 5G enabled smartphone, you might still use a 4G data plan. In fact, this is the only way to minimize monthly costs.

5. Most affordable 5G-enabled smartphones compromise on other specs

Affordable 5G smartphones tend to compromise other features like chipset, battery, display, and camera. You still cannot use 5G internet. Buying a low-cost 5G smartphone may be disappointing. Therefore, you may have to settle for average cameras, low battery life, and low performance.

6. Buying an affordable 5G phone with limited supported bands mean you will not be able to use 5G in other countries

Be sure to check the supported 5G bands while buying a 5G smartphone. Pay attention to choose the right smartphone by checking the supported 5G bands if you have travel plans.

7. Don’t be in this misconception that 5G smartphones will offer better performance than 4G phones

5G support is only for connection. Games will not load faster in 5G phones without a network connection. The performance of smartphones will still be the same.

8. Affordable 5G phones from 2021 will offer less battery life when 5G networks ultimately roll out

5G-enabled smartphones have degraded battery life. There’s a chance that you will have to change your handset. 5G networks will roll out battery life sooner. This is a big concern.

9. You will get better 5G phones if you wait, keeping the chip crisis in mind.

Chipsets launched in 2020 are still in use because of the pandemic. 5G smartphones now are made with the older chipsets. Therefore,  it’s better to wait for a while to buy a smartphone with newer chipsets.
