Moxy Kathmandu: Marriott’s New Four-Star Hotel Launches
Marriott’s New Four-Star Hotel
12th December 2025, Kathmandu
The international hotel chain, Moxy, has officially commenced operations in Kamaladi, marking the arrival of Moxy Kathmandu. This four-star establishment is the first in Nepal under the world-renowned Marriott Group’s ‘Moxy’ brand.
Marriott’s New Four-Star Hotel
Esteemed industrialist and hotel entrepreneur Shashikant Agrawal has successfully brought this globally recognized brand, already popular across Europe and America, to the Nepali market.
A Focus on the New Generation of Travelers
The Moxy brand, a part of the Marriott Group, is known for offering a comparatively affordable and enjoyable experience. This hotel is specifically designed to attract the new generation, independent backpackers, and the growing segment of digital travelers.
Moxy’s distinctive features include a focus on fun and social interaction over formal service. Guests can expect colorful decor and vibrant common spaces designed for community building and socialization.
Shashikant Agrawal shared his vision: “While Nepal has seen many hotel openings recently, a hotel offering an international standard of service, yet geared towards the young and fun-loving demographic, was missing. That is why we introduced Moxy.”
World-Class Infrastructure and Investment
Moxy is a brand with a presence in 29 countries worldwide. The newly opened Moxy Kathmandu is structured and decorated to meet all international standards of the brand. Agrawal’s investment in the project exceeds NPR 2 billion.
Built on two ropani (Nepalese unit of land measurement) of land, the hotel features 101 rooms, most of which are classified as Deluxe Standard.
The amenities elevate the guest experience, including a swimming pool, a dedicated pool bar, a rooftop lounge on the 10th floor offering spectacular Kathmandu views, and an in-house Mexican restaurant.
Marriott’s Expansive Future in Nepal
The grand inauguration of the four-star Moxy hotel was also the stage for a significant announcement regarding future hospitality developments. Gaurav Agrawal, Managing Director of the hotel, revealed ambitious plans to launch the premium Marriott brand, JW Marriott, within the Kathmandu Valley in the next five years.
Everest Hospitality, which operates under the MS Group and has launched three star-rated hotels in the last decade, has committed to bringing the 300-room JW Marriott.
This announcement signals a strong confidence in Nepal’s growing tourism and hospitality sector, indicating a massive expansion of international luxury accommodations in the coming years.
This move positions the MS Group as a key player in shaping the country’s high-end tourism landscape. The successful launch of Moxy Kathmandu acts as a powerful precursor to these upcoming developments.
