Lahan Municipality Honors Sharda and Murarka Family for Historic Social Contributions

Sharda Group expresses its deep gratitude and humility as the Sharda & Murarka family was formally honored by Lahan Municipality during the 17th Municipal Assembly for its longstanding and exemplary contribution to public healthcare and education in Lahan.

The recognition was conferred upon Mr. Pawan Sharda, Director of Sharda Group, along with other members of the donor family, for the landmark donation of land for the establishment of the Ramkumar Sharda–Umaprasad Murarka Provincial Hospital. The honor was presented by Mayor Mr. Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary, who felicitated the family with doshalla, khada, and certificates of appreciation.
Addressing the assembly, the Mayor lauded the family’s foresight and social responsibility, noting that donating land worth crores solely to ensure accessible healthcare for poor, underprivileged, and marginalized citizens reflects rare generosity and an exceptional sense of public duty.
The hospital land—measuring 1 bigha 15 kattha 10 dhur—was donated in 2035 B.S. in memory of Late Mr. Ramkumar Sharda and Late Mr. Umaprasad Murarka.

The hospital building was inaugurated in 2039 B.S., and after nearly 47 years, the land has now formally come under hospital ownership following a Cabinet decision granting exemption on capital gains tax. Valued at approximately NPR 17.99 crore, the land has been transferred to the Madhesh Province Government, ensuring permanent institutional ownership for public healthcare services.
Speaking on behalf of Sharda Group, Mr. Pawan Sharda, Director, stated: “This recognition is not for our family alone—it belongs to the people of Lahan. Our elders firmly believed that true wealth lies in service to society. We are deeply humbled that their vision continues to serve generations through healthcare and education.”
