NAFIJ Members Secure 20% Discount at Urology and Kidney Hospital: Prioritizing Health for Nepalese Financial Journalists
13th March 2026, Kathmandu
In a significant move toward prioritizing the well-being of the media fraternity, the Nepalese Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Urology and Kidney Hospital.
NAFIJ Members Secure 20% Discount
This partnership ensures that NAFIJ members will now receive a 20% discount on all medical services provided by the facility.
The agreement was formalized on Thursday by NAFIJ President Menuka Karki and the Hospital’s Chairman, Shiva Kumar Katwal.
Key Benefits for Nepalese Financial Journalists
The collaboration is designed to provide financial relief and accessible healthcare to journalists who often work in high-pressure environments. Under the terms of the agreement:
Universal Service Discount: NAFIJ members are eligible for a 20% discount across all hospital departments and services.
One-Year Validity: The current agreement remains active for one year, providing a long-term health safety net for members.
Preventative Focus: Both organizations emphasized the importance of early detection in kidney-related ailments.
Strengthening Journalists’ Health and Capacity
Speaking at the signing ceremony, President Menuka Karki stated that the initiative is part of a broader mission to support journalists beyond their professional output.
“While NAFIJ is dedicated to the capacity building of our members, we believe that a healthy journalist is a more effective storyteller. This agreement ensures our members can prioritize their health without financial strain,” Karki noted.
Hospital Chairman Shiva Kumar Katwal added a vital medical perspective, warning that kidney diseases are often “silent killers.” He noted that symptoms frequently only appear after 70% of kidney function has been compromised, making regular screenings essential for professionals with demanding schedules.
Special Event: Free Kidney Screenings for 50 Members
To mark the launch of this partnership and celebrate World Kidney Day, the Urology and Kidney Hospital hosted a free health camp for 50 NAFIJ members.
Specialist doctors conducted comprehensive screenings and provided personalized consultations. Nikesh Khatri, General Secretary of NAFIJ, highlighted that while kidney treatment is notoriously expensive in the later stages, early awareness can prevent chronic issues.
He confirmed that the free screenings and the 20% discount guarantee are vital steps in protecting the health of the Nepalese financial journalism community.
