A Surge in Automotive Demand
The event, which kicked off on April 30 (Baisakh 17), became a central hub for auto enthusiasts and serious buyers. According to the organizers, a total of 321 vehicles were booked or sold during the show.
The sales breakdown highlights a diverse demand across segments:
148 Cars (with a significant lean toward the latest Electric SUVs)
114 Motorcycles & Scooters
59 Vans and Commercial Vehicles
With over 12,000 visitors attending, the expo featured 70+ stalls from approximately 30 major automotive brands.
EVs and Innovation Take Center Stage
Reflecting the national shift toward sustainable mobility, Electric Vehicles (EVs) were the primary attraction. Major players showcased future-ready models:
Mahindra drew crowds with its “Electric Origin” SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e.
Foton Nepal (MAW Vriddhi) dominated the commercial segment with its High Roof and Low Roof EV Vans, offering event-exclusive “Family Retreat” packages and significant cash discounts.
Other popular models making waves included the Tata Tiago EV, BYD Sealion 7, and the locally assembled Hyundai Creta.
Consumer-Centric Features
One of the key drivers for the high booking rate was the availability of on-the-spot finance and insurance services. Banks and insurance providers partnered with exhibitors to offer streamlined approvals and attractive interest rates, making it easier for middle-income families to transition to new vehicles.
To further boost engagement, the show featured a “Lucky Draw” where three lucky buyers walked away with special grand prizes on the final day.
Economic Impact on Chitwan
Beyond just vehicle sales, the Chitwan Auto Show 2026 provided a significant boost to the local economy. The high footfall benefited the hospitality and service sectors in Bharatpur and the surrounding areas.
As the Nepalese government continues to promote EV adoption through supportive tax policies, events like the Chitwan Auto Show serve as a critical bridge between global automotive technology and the growing aspirations of Nepalese consumers.
