Nepal Bank Chairperson Shovakanta Poudel Appointed to Lead Board

Shovakanta Poudel has been officially appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nepal Bank Limited. The decision was finalized during a board meeting held on May 14 (Jetha 1).

Following his appointment, Paudel took the official oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday. The oath was administered by the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Prof. Dr. Bishwambher Shrestha, at the central bank headquarters.

Vacancy and Board Restructuring

The chairman position became vacant following a series of recent changes within the bank’s leadership structure:

Previous Chairperson Resignation: The former chairman, Prof. Dr. Dilli Raj Sharma, tendered his resignation on May 7 (Baisakh 24). His resignation was formally accepted during the board meeting on May 14 (Jestha 1).

Ministry of Finance Representation: The position opened after the board accepted Maya Acharya’s resignation, who had represented the Ministry of Finance on the Board of Directors.

Following these administrative adjustments, Nepal Bank Limited proceeded to appoint Paudel as chair of the board, ensuring continuity in the governance of the country’s oldest commercial bank.
