NTA Initiates License Revocation Process for 17 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Nepal
20th May 2026, Kathmandu
The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has taken a strict stance against non-compliant internet and email service providers.
NTA License Revocation Process
The regulatory body has initiated the process to revoke the licenses of 17 ISPs after they failed to clear their long-overdue financial liabilities, including royalties and the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund (RTDF) fees.
According to the NTA, these companies repeatedly ignored prior warnings, emails, and official notices demanding compliance.
Consequently, invoking Section 28 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053, the authority has issued a final 15-day ultimatum to these ISPs to submit a valid explanation as to why their licenses should not be cancelled.
Failure to provide a satisfactory response within this timeframe will lead to the immediate cancellation of their operating licenses.
List of the 17 Facing License Cancellation:

Why is NTA Revoking Their Licenses?
The regulatory authority stated that these 17 companies breached multiple mandatory compliance rules over several fiscal years, which include:
Missing Financial Reports: Failure to submit audited financial statements regularly.
Unpaid Dues: Non-payment of government royalties and mandatory contributions to the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund (RTDF).
Lack of Data Transparency: Failure to provide regular updates regarding their service coverage areas and active subscriber counts.
This move by the NTA underscores its commitment to cleaning up Nepal’s telecom sector and ensuring all operating digital service providers adhere to financial laws and transparency standards.
