The election concluded on Friday at the FNCCI Central Office in Teku, Kathmandu, finalizing key leadership positions for the country’s most influential business organizational network.
Executive Leadership Secured Under FNCCI Statute
The race for the Senior Vice President saw initial nominations from Surkrishna Vaidya, Ramchandra Sanghai, and Hemraj Dhakal. However, Dhakal later withdrew his candidacy, leading to a direct contest where Vaidya emerged victorious.
For the position of Treasurer, Manish Lal Pradhan defeated Ambika Prasad Paudel to secure his post.
The selections were made in strict accordance with Clauses 29.5 and 29.8 of the FNCCI Statute-2049 (including the Seventh Amendment).
President Anjan Shrestha Nominates 6 Executive Committee Members
Following the executive elections, newly positioned FNCCI President Anjan Shrestha nominated six individuals to the Executive Committee, ensuring inclusive representation across business sectors. Notably, the nominations include two women leaders.
The newly nominated Executive Committee members are:
-
Mr. Shiva Prasad Ghimire
-
Mr. Manish Lal Pradhan
-
Mr. Nabin Rijal
-
Mr. Gokarna Karki
-
Ms. Darshana Shrestha
-
Ms. Sahara Joshi
According to Article 29 (Cha) 10 of the FNCCI Statute, the President is empowered to nominate up to seven members to ensure all membership groups are fairly represented, with a mandatory requirement of at least two women. President Shrestha has filled six of these spots, leaving one final nomination pending.
Following the announcements, President Shrestha administered the oath of office and secrecy to all newly elected and nominated officials.
“The private sector must move forward with absolute unity to advocate for business rights and drive Nepal’s economic development,” President Shrestha stated, congratulating the team. “FNCCI remains fully committed to addressing the demands of industrialists nationwide while actively championing economic prosperity.”
Transition in FNCCI Leadership Guard
President Anjan Shrestha officially assumed the presidency following FNCCI’s 60th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election cycle held earlier on May 4-5 (Baisakh 21-22). His transition from Senior Vice President to President followed Clause 29.3 of the statute, which dictates that the sitting Senior VP automatically succeeds to the presidency.
This automatic succession follows a specific transitory provision from the Seventh Amendment passed in November 2024 (Mangsir 2081).
This rule applies strictly to the current term; for future terms, the amended statute mandates that the FNCCI President will be chosen via direct election during the General Assembly rather than through automatic elevation.
