9th July 2026, Kathmandu
Global IME Bank Limited has officially announced the planned merger and structural consolidation of two of its prominent branch offices operating within Gulmi district.
Global IME Bank Merges Two Branches
The commercial banking institution will integrate its local service networks situated inside Resunga Municipality. This administrative move comes as part of the broader corporate network optimization strategy executed by the financial institution to streamline its retail operations across various provinces.
The restructuring process is aimed at eliminating overlapping service counters while strengthening the overall quality of commercial banking facilities provided to the local population. By combining adjacent assets, the bank looks to minimize localized administrative costs and improve asset utilization across its western regional network.
Strategic Consolidation of Parallel Financial Facilities
According to the official public notice published by the commercial institution, the Tamghas Hospital Line Branch and the core Tamghas Branch will be merged into a single operational unit. The integrated office setup is scheduled to commence its combined public operations from July 14, 2026, which corresponds directly to the traditional calendar date of Ashar 30, 2083.
Following the execution of the consolidation process, all financial services and credit processing operations previously handled by both individual branches will be seamlessly transferred to the main Tamghas Branch. This remaining base facility will continue to serve as the single unified operating branch for the urban center of Resunga Municipality.
The bank management pointed out that the two existing branches are physically located approximately 500 meters apart from one another. Because of this extreme geographical proximity, maintaining two full scale separate physical structures resulted in redundant resource spending and divided staff management. The corporate body stated that the consolidation aims to improve day to day operational efficiency while ensuring entirely uninterrupted banking services for all retail and corporate customers.
Direct Guidelines and Continuity for Local Account Holders
Global IME Bank Limited has requested all active customers of both regional branches to continue utilizing the designated Tamghas Branch for their future cash transactions, check clearings, and administrative needs after the merger takes effect. The bank assured its customer base that all historical account data, interest calculation protocols, and locker facilities will remain intact and transition smoothly into the integrated system without requiring complex paperwork from depositors.
The technical support desk has already initialized the backend database integration process using its centralized financial software systems. This system alignment ensures that debit cards, credit facilities, and mobile banking applications linked to the old accounts continue to function normally without service breaks.
The commercial institution also issued a formal apology to its regular clients for any temporary administrative inconveniences that this corporate transition might cause. The executive board reaffirmed its absolute commitment to providing smooth, highly efficient, and customer friendly banking services throughout the entire branch integration process.
Driving Efficiency Through National Network Optimization
This localized merger in Gulmi reflects a growing trend among major Nepalese commercial banks to optimize their physical footprints following years of rapid branch expansion and corporate acquisitions. Consolidating nearby offices allows the bank to deploy its human resources more effectively, ensuring shorter waiting times and better specialized financial counseling for heavy commercial lenders.
Furthermore, the integration process helps the bank lower its real estate rental overheads and utility costs. The financial capital saved from optimizing urban and semi urban networks can be redirected toward expanding alternative service delivery systems, such as deploying branchless banking units in underserved high altitude villages or upgrading automated teller machine security.
Accelerated Digital Migration and Virtual Banking Support
Beyond physical branch consolidation, the management is actively encouraging its provincial user base to adopt modern digital banking options. The bank provides full service mobile applications, web portals, and instant text alert facilities that allow consumers to complete regular utility payments, fund transfers, and balance checks without needing to visit a physical office counter.
By shifting routine cash management tasks onto digital interfaces, the bank minimizes physical foot traffic inside its main branches. This digital transformation allows branch staff to focus on complex advisory services, including small enterprise loans, agricultural credit distribution, and international remittance payouts for families residing across the Gulmi region.
The commercial banking house continues to maintain the largest paid up capital base in the country and runs an extensive national network of hundreds of branches. The executive leadership plans to continue monitoring its branch density in major municipalities to balance financial accessibility with long term operational sustainability
